We took a trip down to Southampton's Engine Rooms to see The Story So Far, Citizen and All Get Out on the last date of their UK tour. Pop-punk perfection? Definitely.
Even during the gremlin-plagued first half of the set, The Black Queen are great live. “Not every gig is perfect, but fuck it.” Those words fall out of singer Greg Puciato’s mouth just before they close their set. He’s right. This wasn’t the perfect gig, but it was uniquely special because of its imperfections.
Following on from the rescheduling of their December 2017 tour, the time finally arrived for Southampton fans to see Knuckle Puck live at The 1865. With support from Movements and Tiny Moving Parts, it was set to be a line-up of great live music.
An August Bank Holiday tradition for many is spending the weekend at Reading Festival, seeing some of the biggest names and exciting new acts from wide-spanning genres. With our fingers firmly crossed that summer would continue for just three more days, here’s what happened during our annual trip to the festival.
Set in the Cotswolds, 2000trees Festival is a picturesque playground for those with a roundabout taste in music; and there really is something for everyone with five stages to choose from. This chilled out festival really turned up the heat and upped its game this year, and we were ready to soak up all the rays and music we could get our sweaty palms on.
It isn’t easy to translate music as lush and as intricate as that of The Contortionist live. It’s even more difficult to make it feel as immersive and effortless as they do. Joined by Palm Reader, we took a trip down to their show in Glasgow earlier this month - check out our review and photo gallery!
When it comes to all things alternative in the UK, there’s really nothing bigger or better than Download Festival. It’s got it all – the Gods of Rock, up-and-coming bands, and everything from the WWE NXT to sideshows in between. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a heavy music fan, this is the pilgrimage that you absolutely have to make at some point in your lifetime. We were at this year’s event and it did not disappoint.
Most consider the festival season a bit of a none starter if they didn't get the chance to make it to Slam Dunk. Travelling through three major UK locations each year during the May bank holiday music lovers in their hordes religiously flock to the event. With a few big changes to the stage arrangements this year, along with a duel headline setup, we took a trip down to this year's event in Leeds to see what all of the fuss was about.
Rock icons Nickelback hit UK shores for their Feed The Machine tour this month, joined by special guests Seether. We took a trip to the Birmingham leg of the tour to see Kroeger and co perform tracks spanning their impressive back catalogue, all the while providing a reminder of the strength of their music’s natural magnetism.
If the rest of Trivium’s career is made up of shows like this and albums like The Sin and the Sentence, they won’t go down as that band who followed the leaders; they’ll go down as leaders on their own terms.
