MUSIC INTERVIEW: Life On The Road With…Phoxjaw
This month sees alt-rockers Phoxjaw release their debut EP Goodbye Dinosaur… and to celebrate they will be touring with Pagan and playing three headline shows. We caught up with vocalist/bassist Danny Garland ahead of the dates to hear the band’s top tips and stories from the road.
Favourite thing about touring:The things I enjoy about touring are the new places you get to visit and the new people we get to meet. Also we get to watch lots of new and exciting bands.
Least favourite thing about touring:
Lack of sleep would be my only issue. Everything else, I enjoy – even the annoying bits.
Five essentials for the road:
Great tunes, blankets and green tea. That’s three.
Your favourite way to pass the time:
Being social and talking. We talk about a lot of subjects together in the van. It’s what helps our minds stay active.
Playing 2000trees Festival was the best date we had this year. We worked hard to get to that point and it felt like a real achievement for us.
Our ex-guitarist Glenn always hurts himself and we were shotting whiskey and he jumped into a bush and missed and messed his leg up.
Leaving my bass head at 2000trees Festival on the side of the stage. I had a bottle of wine before the gig and left it at the festival.
Glenn sleeping in the back of a van on top of all our equipment. It was pretty cold as well and he was bent like a melting cheese string.
Drunken moments are the only moments so it’s hard to pick one.
Releasing our EP at rough trade. We worked hard on this EP and it was all done in-house by ourselves.
