It’s hard to believe its almost that time of year already … yes the Sound City Festival returns to Liverpool city centre on 2nd and 3rd May and this year the line-up is looking very tasty. It’s always good to have a look down the list and count how many of the bands we have seen live before: this year the answer is nine. Let’s have a look at who is playing over the two days.
Keo are not long off a successful UK tour playing in decent sized venues, these guys have grown their fanbase massively over the past year and are well deserved headliners, we will be making sure to catch their set to close off Saturday night as we haven’t had the chance to see them live yet. Jalen Ngonda is another one we are looking forward to seeing headline on the Sunday night closing off the festival. There is a good representation of bands from around the UK with Brooke Combe representing Scotland while Dea Matrona and Basht. are from the North and South of Ireland respectively. Adult Leisure from Bristol are a band we have been listening to a lot recently and we can’t wait to finally see these guys live.
The Molotovs are brother and sister Matt and Issey Cartlidge, they toured in early January around the UK as well as releasing debut album Wasted On Youth the same month, it actually peaked at number three in the UK charts, great work for a band that only began releasing music in 2025! We are so looking forward to seeing them play live for the first time. Bleech 9:3 are another band on our radar while Finn Forster and Girl In The Year Above are another two on the must-see list for this year. We saw Finn support Stereophonics at Summer Sessions in Glasgow last year and liked what we heard. Indie rockers The Rolling People are slowly becoming established and we hope that the Sound City people have provided a venue with ample space for them … they will need it! We were lucky enough to see Talia Rae support David Gray during his tour last year and we were so impressed by her powerful vocals. Teenage Joans have also caught the eye over the past few months and will be a delight to see live. There are still many more acts to be announced for Sound City and we are sure to discover so many new bands as usual. A few of the up and coming bands that stood out last year were better joy, IST IST and Rosellas, strangely enough all three are from Manchester.
We cannot wait to get back down to sunny (hopefully!) Liverpool for another dose of brand new music. Check out the line-up below and find out more including how to get tickets HERE.
