MUSIC NEWS: Wicketkeeper Announce Sophomore Album & Release New Single ‘Alarm Clock Radio’

Wicketkeeper have announced their sophomore album Zambroni, due for release on 22nd September 2023 via Umpire Records.
The instrument-swapping trio have also released their new single Alarm Clock Radio.
“When Ryan sent through the demo, I dropped everything and assembled my makeshift recording set-up,” says Simon Morley. “It reminded me of that banger that the Dandy Warhols had on that phone advert, but with a slack Graham Coxon vibe. I don’t normally write straight-down-the-line love songs, I like to lightly sprinkle earnest heartfelt compliments between casual insults or morbid nonchalance. But I thought, it’s time for a love song and who better to channel my affection to than a pretty much obsolete electronic device.
“No, honestly I wrote the first two lines and thought ‘hold on, this could be about an alarm clock rather than a person’ and ten minutes later it was finished and I was laughing to myself about how funny I am. ‘Modest, basic, robust design, with 24 hour army time’ is probably my favourite lyric I’ve written. Thanks for asking.”
