LIVE REVIEW: As December Falls, THE HARA, RedHook, Garage, Glasgow, 06/11/2025

As December Falls are in Glasgow tonight for what is the band’s biggest headline show in the city to date. The seven hundred capacity Garage on Sauchiehall Street is bursting at the seams tonight for a band that last played here in 2023, although we did see them support RØRY in the city earlier in the year. The name of the tour – Everything’s On Fire But We’re On Tour – is a take on their latest album Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine, we reviewed that very album for Bring The Noise, check it out here.

It’s an earlier start tonight as RedHook, all the way from Sydney, Australia take to the stage at 7.15pm and what an incredibly energetic half-hour they put on for the Glasgow crowd. This is the last night of the tour and RedHook have been supporting ADF all across Europe and the UK  for the past couple of months, the big question is will the Glasgow crowd make the last night count? They had no other choice really as singer Emmy Mack struts about The Garage like she owns the place, and why not they have come all the way from Sydney after all! With two albums behind them now after the release of Mutation last November, they have a decent back catalogue to choose from. The vocalist starts the set is soon off the stage and into a straitjacket then reappears as a zombie later, Australian bands never do things by half! The best song was left to the end of the set with Bad Decisions which is the band’s most streamed song to date, the crowd participation during this one is memorable as Emmy Mack jumps the barrier to mosh alongside the fans as well all join in with the catchy chorus. “I’m a fucked up mess, feeling angry and depressed, I make bad decisions/I’m in so much debt I’m getting off my head, I make bad decisions”. What a way to end the set. 9/10

Coming from a bit closer to home, three-piece Manchester band THE HARA are next to enliven the crowd as Josh Taylor (vocals), Zack Green (guitar) and Jack Kennedy (drums) get a huge cheer as they take to the stage. Vocalist Taylor soon reveals an impressive set of tattoos as well as a healthy set of lungs to keep the energy levels high. THE HARA co-released a track with As December Falls only a couple of weeks ago, that song is named Violence but sadly we only get a backing vocals track featuring Bethany Hunter and not the real person. Despite this they have songs aplenty of their own to keep the crowd entertained, in between Josh Taylor crowd surfing and we are only three songs into the set! Trophy is one of the best of the half-hour set and now we have the guitarist on stage wearing a panda head … we have seen it all tonight so far! We got the feeling that Josh Taylor was let down a little by the sound people at The Garage tonight, there were a few moments where he was screaming into the microphone but this wasn’t reflected back to the crowd from the speaker system. This was our first time seeing THE HARA and they left a good impression. 8/10

The anticipation in the crowd is at fever pitch as everyone knows this is the last night of the European and UK tour. We are all well up for this one tonight! Bethany Hunter takes to the stage by herself for Burn It All Down before being joined by the other three band members Andre Hunter (guitar), Timmy Francis (bass) and Kiaran Hegarty (drums). We would get to hear an impressive ten tracks from the Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine album including the title track and Angry Cry that must surely rank as one of the best of the set, the crowd reaction certainly tells us that. We soon get a couple from the Join The Club with Carousel being sang back to the stage by the enthusiastic fans while Grim Reaper has the very man dancing around the stage with a scream mask and cape on, Bethany shows off some fine choreographed dance moves with him. Bethany works the crowd well during For The Plot and tells the story of when they played upstairs at the Garage Attic a few years ago, they walked through this very room and stated that one day they would be playing to a sold out crowd here … dreams do come true then!

Rewrite has Bethany on the stage by herself for a solo moment, Mayday and Bathroom Floor are also candidates for the best of the eighteen-track set. However it is a cover of Blink 182 song I Miss You that gets a mass singalong underway with phone torches being lit up around the room creating a special moment. Whilst during Mayday all three bands from tonight are on the stage to sing happy birthday to one of the crew proving how much these three bands have become so friendly. Bethany asks for some crowd surfing during the excellent Capture, the crowd response is incredible as a sea of bodies make their way down to the barrier testing the crew to the limit, it’s one of those memorable takeaway moments that stay with you. Ride is the penultimate song of the night and Therapy is a track that has quickly become a fans favourite from the latest record, what a way to end the show and the tour tonight, wow. As December Falls should get the Barrowland Ballroom booked for the next tour, they might be in need of a much bigger venue than this, that’s how good they are! 10/10
