Originating from West Lothian, the Scottish indie band The Snuts formed when they were still youthful teenagers at school. Since their inception in 2015, the band have toured throughout the UK and Europe – featuring on the bill for the most recognised festivals on the planet. Tonight they continue their headline tour of the UK at Stoke-on-Trent’s Victoria Hall.

The standing area is teaming with revellers, this slightly makes up for the lack of people within the stalls at Stoke this evening. As the lights dim here at Victoria Hall, and The Snuts take to the stage the decibels increase inside the venue somewhat. Commencing with the viral hit Gloria, the crowd here in the Potteries need no invitations to get involved as the venue comes alive. Lead singer Jack Cochrane displays dynamic and crisp vocals from the very beginning of the performance here at Victoria Hall this evening.

The quartet have no signs of nerves tonight as they continue to deliver a tight and pulsating set to the audience. If there was a criticism early on, it would be the bands struggle to fill the enormity of the stage tonight with such a simple and small set up.

Surpassing six and a half million streams on Spotify, the ever popular track All Your Friends continues to maintain the energy  between band and audience this evening. The charismatic lead vocalist Jack Cochrane addresses the audience for the first time this evening. “Good evening Stoke, We’ve been coming to Stoke for so many years, we love it here”. His comments rightly receiving a deafening cheer from the jubilant crowd.

With phones a loft The Snuts begin Glasgow which continues the already raucous atmosphere inside Victoria Hall. Climaxing perfectly with a sing-along from the crowd. For the hardcore Snuts fans that have been there since the beginning, the involvement in starting a pit is too much. The mosh pit is commenced in the middle of the standing area.

During the performance this evening Cochrane makes a comment about artists finding themselves touring the same places, usually the larger cities which are easily accessible. He continues and mentions the idea of the current tour was to explore cities which aren’t always on a band’s radar, considering this an important step in expanding their music to different cities around the UK.

Fatboy Slim expands the ever growing pit further and gets the floor section of the venue bouncing. As a band The Snuts are now three albums into their music career, as lead vocalist Jack Cochrane mentions, saying it’s a privileged position to be in being able to choose a substantial back catalogue to play to audiences every night.

This evening’s show contained a carefully selected balance of new releases promoting the current single and cult classics that have received enough radio play during the years that everyone at Victoria Hall could become entwined in a sing-along. An exceptional performance from a young Scottish indie-rock band who are establishing themselves and growing ever more popular year on year.
