Norwegian-based indie artist Fig Tape has been gaining traction in recent years, with his style of indie-pop fused with elements of electronica. The most notable acclaim for Fig Tape of recent times is having his tracks featured on the hit Netflix series Young Royals.
Debut album Forcefed Serenity features the indie-pop and underground house vibe that Fig Tape has become known for on previous projects.
The lead single entitled Run It was released earlier in the year and has received positive feedback from fans and critics alike. Drawing on themes of nostalgia and identity in modern society, the single leans heavily on the electronic elements of Fig Tape’s sound.
Fig Tape‘s influences are deep-rooted in the sounds of the early 2000’s indie scene. Elements of Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club and The Wombats can be heard throughout the album.
As we get to the inner workings of Forcefed Serenity, Take Me To The Altar and Focal Point boast dominant basslines throughout, while leaning heavily towards the electronic elements of Fig Tape‘s sound. In contrast, SHOUT SONG shows Fig Tape‘s vulnerability, with a melancholy aesthetic to the track.
This is a record that is undeniably personal and draws on modern day issues such as gender identity, relationships, and finding inner peace in an over-saturated world.
