Sam Fender has put Newcastle back on the music map with his high-energy indie-rock style, paving the way for many other up and coming artists from the city. Andrew Cushin is a great example of this, who has just released his second album Love Is For Everyone (or L.I.F.E. if you like) following on from 2023 debut Waiting For The Rain. We first came across Andrew Cushin when he supported The Sherlocks on their UK tour a few years ago and have been following his progress since then.
The twelve track album kicks off with the title track Love Is For Everyone and it’s Cushin’s vocals that standout, while New World Blazing has Noel Gallagher or Oasis vibes about it – another highlight on the record. We love the lines “We are the people, can’t you see/that it would take a new world blazing for you and me”. Catch The Sun is another one with a catchy chorus backed up with shimmering guitar work, while Alright! was one of the early releases from Love Is For Everyone and is another of the finest on the record.
Something Ain’t Quite Right opens with more Noel Gallagher inspired guitar and even the vocals are verging on the influence of the main man himself. The production from Gareth Nuttall is really highlighted on She, What Else You Got and No More Shadows, while A Song For You is a lovely wee acoustic number that had us tapping along. Elsewhere, Kiss The Sky is very atmospheric with some big explosive guitar moments. Standing By My Side slows the pace down as we near the end of the record, and will be a good fit for any acoustic moments in a live setting. Last track I’m Coming Home is a gentle end to the album and is dedicated to Cushin’s mum.
We thoroughly enjoyed the 47 minutes of Love Is For Everyone. If you still aren’t convinced then have a listen to Cushin’s 2020 release Where’s My Family Gone, produced by the legend that is Noel Gallagher – this song will hit you like one of Connor McGregor’s finest.
We’re looking forward to hearing the new songs live – the summer vibes of the songs have been released with perfect timing.
