Has it really been a year already since we watched the headliners Liam Gallagher, Gerry Cinnamon and Calvin Harris take Glasgow Green by storm? Time flies but it’s now time to look out those bucket hats and festival clobber as another weekend of musical mayhem is headed our way and this year the line-up is looking breath-taking for TRNSMT 2025.
Friday
Calum Bowie opens the main stage on Friday 11th July after playing the King Tut’s stage last year, Calum has grown so much musically over the past couple of years since we first came across his music down in Liverpool at the Sound City Festival in 2023. Glasgow’s very own Twin Atlantic have been touring over the past year or so and should bring a good crowd to watch them as will Liverpool’s finest Jamie Webster who always writes songs that connect with the masses. Wet Leg have grown a massive fanbase, even more so with the recent new music while Irish boys The Script will see Danny O’Donoghue bring the energy to the masses with their blend of rock. That will set things up nicely for 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) to end the first day of the main stage in style and will surely pull the biggest crowd of the day.
Elsewhere on Friday the King Tut’s stage is looking tasty with Welsh rockers The Royston Club on the bill and are sure to fire the crowd up, will bring a different vibe to the day with the stage antics of Janet Planet and Sugar Bones sure to delight fans if their show at Barrowland at the tail end of last year is anything to go by. Playing TRNSMT for the first time Confidence Man this year (and headlining) and James Bay is a late addition to the festival line-up. The River Stage is now BBC Introducing and there are some very good up and coming bands on the list this year, Scottish Artist of the Year winner Becky Sikasa opens the stage and others to look out for are Cork indie rockers Cliffords as well as rapper Bemz who is well known in the Glasgow music scene.
Saturday
For us Saturday will be the finest day of the festival this year, Glasgow’s own Lucia & The Best Boys open the main stage followed by the very popular Alessi Rose and the English rock powerhouse that is Wunderhorse who will definitely bring the energy, the list just goes on and on … we think Irish rockers Inhaler will produce a massive performance especially after the new album release earlier this year while fellow Dubliners Fontaines D.C. are not long off a very successful tour and will be one of the highlights of the weekend. Ayrshire legends Biffy Clyro end a jaw-dropping day of music squeezing out any last energy that fans may have left.
Over at the King Tut’s stage fans will need to get their timings right if they want to see all the popular acts on Saturday with Hastings-based Hotwax making their TRNSMT debut, a band we have been lucky to see live a few times and highly recommend and the same goes for Falkirk indie-folk band Brògeal, there is usually some dancing involved during their shows. If big guitar riffs are your thing then look no further than James Marriott who is sure to electrify the green while Jake Bugg will bring his own style of acoustic indie music. Headliners Underworld (Karl Hyde & Rick Smith) will take fans on a journey back in time to the days of Trainspotting and Born Slippy, a song made very famous after featuring in that very movie. The BBC Introducing stage is packed with talent on the Saturday with Manchester’s Alex Spencer making his TRNSMT debut, we have watched this lad grow over the past three years and have been lucky enough to see him live a few times already, we highly recommended. Edinburgh band Fright Years are another we have been following closely while Chloe Slater is a breakthrough artist that we saw supporting Canadians The Beaches last year on tour and is one to watch out for. The headliners VLURE have a good following in Glasgow and are sure to bring their trance-punk vibes, this is one not to be missed, trust us on that!
Sunday
The last day of TRNSMT 2025 kicks off with Nieve Ella on the Main Stage who returns after an outstanding performance on the King Tut’s stage last year while Tom Walker should attract a large gathering for his acoustic-based set. Nathan Evans has been touring with Saint Phnx around the UK recently and this will be another chance for them to showcase their talents to a wider audience. Wigans finest The Lathums are back on Glasgow Green after a stellar performance in 2023, after recently selling out two Barrowland shows they will be a big hit we are sure. Myles Smith, Jade and the ever-popular Gracie Abrams are definitely ones for the younger members of the crowd to enjoy with Irish indie rockers Snow Patrol ending the weekend on the main stage in style, we can’t think of a better way to end an incredible weekend of music.
The King Tut’s stage is also looking very lively for Sunday with Kerr Mercer bringing his talents to a wider audience, he recently sold out The Garage and that’s without even releasing a song yet! After seeing this lad support The Snuts last year we just knew he was destined for bigger things. There is a large Scottish contingency on this stage with Nina Nesbitt, Rianne Downey, Kyle Falconer and Brooke Combe all flying the flag and all will be really popular we are sure. The K’s and Shed Seven complete the mouth-watering line-up this year. Over on the BBC Introducing Stage West Lothian’s finest Dictator make their TRNSMT debut and are sure to go down a storm with Matilda Mann ending the weekend in style.
There will be no Spanish flags flying this year but no doubt there will be plenty of Scottish ones. Bring on the fun (without the rain hopefully!)
