Jarki Monno has released his new single PettyCries, taken from his brand new EP Mother Told Me ‘These Things Happen’.
“This is the opposite side to I don’t play with love,” he explains. “It’s about relationships where you feel like you’re being led along a road that was always bound to end up nowhere… Like a mirage in the desert, my mind played tricks on me, and so did the other person involved. They almost got a high off of the fact that I was at their beck and call but nowhere to be seen when I needed them.
“I woke up at 3 am with the melody in my head and the first three lines of the chorus. I had to voice record it on my phone straight away just so that I didn’t forget it. First thing in the morning, I laid down the basic chorus on my laptop. I worked with Evil Genius the following week, and we had a solid 14-hour studio session from 11 am right through to 1 am and laid down pretty much the entirety of the track.”
