As we look forward to 2024, it’s the perfect time to start planning the festival agenda for the year ahead. We’re taking a look at one of the first festivals scheduled in our diaries for 2024 and explain why it should be on your radar.
Reality Unfolds (organised by Real Life Presents) is taking place at New Cross Inn in London between 12th and 14th January 2024. Offering up a hefty dose of hardcore, screamo and extreme metal, the festival is returning for its second year. On Friday will be Pupil Slicer and Ojne as double headliners, Saturday sees the UK debut from Fuming Mouth and on Sunday, Genocide Pact will be making their first live appearance outside of the United States in their ten year History. Sounds good? Those are only the headliners.
We take a look at some of the other bands across the weekend who you should definitely be checking out!
Still In Love
Saturday
Playing their first show at Reality Unfolds will be Still In Love. The hardcore bands is the revival from members of Throats, Dead Swans and Last Witness. With their throwback sound comprising of a hefty dose of raw screams, swirling guitars, ferocious energy and stomping drums which will excel in the live atmosphere of New Cross Inn. Check out their debut EP Withdrawal Symptoms PT.1 which was released earlier this year!
Bodyweb
Saturday
This year Bodyweb released their debut album train_wreck_simulator, showcasing a dark, genre blending sound. The Leeds based band features members of Higher Power and Pest Control with clear influences of fiery heavy post-hardcore and grunge-infused music. With 2024 looking set to be a huge year for the band, we’d recommend catching their set at Reality Unfolds next month.
Realm Of Torment
Saturday
Southampton’s finest hardcore outfit Realm of Torment will be bringing the mosh to Saturday’s line-up. With their third album Ytene’s Collapse released last year, this year the band celebrated ten years as a band which means the perfect excuse for a belated celebration. See you in the pit?
Ancient Rivalry
Sunday
With members of bands including Dropset and Fifty Calibre, Ancient Rivalry and their take on classic 80s-style death metal will be showcased at Reality Unfolds. Expect to hear tracks from their self-titled EP which was released earlier this year, which you can check out below.
Inhuman Nature
Sunday
For some Reality Unfolds fest attendees, they may have crossed paths with Inhuman Nature on their tours with Green Lung, Discharge or Heriot. Their ferocious, mosh-pit inflicting thrash metal is going to awaken the crowd on the Sunday of the festival with their aggressive live set. Earlier this year the band released their split EP Beyond The Realms Of Sanity with Ninth Realm with their self-titled debut released back in 2019, could we be hearing some new music within their set?
