FESTIVAL NEWS: Bloodstock Announce Details Of Iron Maiden Exhibition

Bloodstock have announced an Iron Maiden exhibition will feature at their 2022 event. The festival is set to take place between 11th – 14th August 2022 at Catton Park, Derbyshire with final details beginning to be announced about what can be expected.

The festival’s RAM gallery was curated by festival founder/fantasy artist Paul Raymond Gregory, with illustrator Mark Wilkinson and Iron Maiden’s official photographer John McMurtrie contributing to the exhibition.

Speaking of the band, McMurtrie says: “When it comes to doing something well I cannot think of any other band that is as driven to outdo itself than Iron Maiden. I have been the band’s photographer since 2006 and each tour just gets bigger and more ambitious!” he continues. “The current Legacy of the Beast tour celebrates the music and showmanship of Iron Maiden with three full stage set changes representing War, Religion and Death. What other band on the planet would have a full-size Spitfire dive bombing on stage, a cathedral with stained glass windows, then a scene from HELL with a 25ft monster surrounded by flames? I have a lot to photograph each night but it is the best gig in music photography and I feel honoured to play my part in capturing the Iron Maiden legacy.” If you’d like your own bit of Iron Maiden/Bloodstock history, attendees will be able to visit the gallery and receive 25% off a 20″x16″ print at the festival which can be shipped to their home. Alongside the Iron Maiden exhibition, artist Eliran Kantor who created Venom Prison‘s recent album artwork, Krusher, 3D artist Liam Brandon Murray and fantasy illustrator/musician Rodney Matthews will also be showcasing their work. Each year Bloodstock has a great festival photography team on site, now attendees can also check out works from some of the team over in the RAM Gallery.

The festival has also announced, due to the passing of Black Dahlia Murder’s Trevor Strnad, the band will no longer be attending the festival this year. Taking their Sunday Ronnie James Dio main stage slot will be Venom Inc with a 40th Anniversary Black Metal set.
