Five Minutes With

MUSIC FEATURE: Five Minutes With…Meg Myers

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Meg Myers has been turning heads across the globe with not one, but two new EPs, Thank U 4 Taking Me To 2 The Disco and I’d Like 2 Go Home Now, which were released earlier this month through Sumerian Records. We caught up with Myers to find out more, including her first musical memory, her journey as an artist, her vast array of influences and plans for 2021.

Firstly, tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m an angelic being sent to this planet to radiate light so beings may transmute suffering and reconnect to oneness through love.

How long have you been releasing music and how did your pathway as an artist come about?

My brother and I formed a band when I was thirteen. I began my professional career in my twenties and I’ve always found music to be an emotional outlet and a way to transform trauma to transcendence.

Can you remember the first time you realised you wanted to make music?

I desperately needed an outlet for my intense emotional experiences and music became a natural way for me to avoid becoming a serial killer :)

Who and what are your main influences?

Enya, Bob Marley, Tupac, Sting, NIN, Ludovico Einaudi, classical music, world music, new-age music, death metal, prog rock.

What do you aim to achieve?

Ascension. Get me outta here!

For those who are yet to see you live, what can they expect from a Meg Myers show?

A rollercoaster ride of raw emotions and redemption.

What’s next for you?

Next year I will be releasing my third album.
