MUSIC FEATURE: Five Minutes With…Young Culture

Pop-rock outfit Young Culture are gearing up for the imminent release of their self-titled debut album, exploring the struggles of trying to find your way in your early 20s. Expect to find elements of hip-hop, country, hardcore and alternative rock on their upcoming full-length, blending the diverse backgrounds and styles of each member. We caught up with vocalist Alex Magnan to discuss the band’s formation, influences, his first musical memory and more.

Firstly, tell us a bit about yourself and your band.

I’m Alex, I sing in a band with my two best friends, Gabe and Troy. The three of us make tunes as Young Culture.

How did the band form and how long have you been together?

We’ve been a band since 2016. Gabe and I met in sixth grade and we met Troy at music camp the following year. We’ve been inseparable ever since.

Can you remember the first time you realised you wanted to make music?

I’d steal my brother’s Fall Out Boy CD’s and make homemade music videos with my camcorder. It was destiny.

Who and what are the band’s main influences?

Everyday people and the conversations that remind us that we’re all human.

What do you aim to achieve as a band?

Rock stardom, millions of dollars and the approval of my mom.

For those who are yet to see you live, what can they expect from a Young Culture show?

A setting where everyone feels like they belong and can be themselves, a concert that’s not just about the show but the community.

What’s next for Young Culture?

Our first ever full-length album, available everywhere 16th October!

Young Culture‘s self-titled debut album is due for release on 16th October 2020 via Rude Records, available to pre-order HERE
