MUSIC INTERVIEW: Life On The Road With…Normandie
Swedish rock outfit Normandie will hit UK shores on Monday for the very first time, as they set to embark on a headline tour which sees them perform in seven cities. To mark the occasion we caught up with the band to hear some of their stories from the road…
Favourite thing about touring:
Connecting with new people. Feeling the energy from doing what we love together as a band.
Least favourite thing about touring:
No sleep, it’s really hard to be on top when you sleep 4 hours a night.
Five essentials for the road:
Company, a good book, some good drinks, offline Spotify playlist and of course, an open heart.
Your favourite way to pass the time:
Experiencing new places and new people. Just being aware of the nature around you.
When we played at Scene in Austria. The first big show we did as a band, and I’m pretty sure we all felt that we were on the right path in life after that.
Well, there are many. But every time I look at John I laugh. He is something else. And seeing Philip dance around to Empty Space by The Story So Far is always funny, although nothing beats Håkan shaving his chest, leaving one big hole of hair in the middle of his chest.
I rarely get embarrassed, but playing wrong or missing a note/hit is always really embarrassing.
When our van broke down for the last time. In Switzerland, it last show of the tour. We couldn’t fix it so we left it there and rented two cars. No one knows where the van is today.
We try not to drink too much, but sometimes – we do. One time we celebrated life with some absinthe at a super cool club in Prague, and our old “friend” disappeared without his phone, passed out in a hidden room and woke up in the middle of the night – we found out he was locked up.
Every day is a rewarding moment for us. Even though we’re not full-time musicians yet, we have found our passion and are able to do something we love.
