Animals as Leaders

It's been ten years since Washington D.C trio Animals As Leaders released their self-titled debut album and to celebrate it this they've headed out on a 10 year anniversary tour. With support coming from Cryptodira and Rolo Tomassi we knew we couldn't miss out on this line-up and headed to The Garage show in Glasgow.

Despite the weather-related camping challenges at this year’s Download, a decent sized crowd have woken up early and amassed at the Avalanche Stage to watch Parting Gift open the stage on day two.

Animals As Leaders rode the crest of the initial wave of djent abnds, and alongside artists such as TesseracT and Periphery remain as one of its greatest innovators. We sat down with guitarist Javier Reyes to talk about Tech-Fest and what’s to come for the band.

In its fifth year, Newark's Tech-Fest is fast becoming THE place to be for any fan of tech, prog, metal and anything in between. Arguably its biggest year to date with a huge line-up including headliners Animals As Leaders, Protest The Hero and Between The Buried And Me, we took a trip to the niche festival for a weekend of riffs, and plenty of them!
