NEW NOISE: Childcare

Who: Childcare

Where: London

What: Sultry pop brushed with a tinge of infectious and exotic electronica.

About: Meet London based musician Ed Cares, whose new project Childcare certainly got our heads turning. The band have recently released their EP Flush, coinciding the launch with a series of secret shows across some of the coolest underground venues in London. Despite being low key, Childcare has seen support from the likes of Bastille already in their short career; ones to keep on your radar we think!

Verdict: Although it’s very early days for the band – who have recently released their debut EP – there’s something really captivating about their exotic brand of indie pop. From the bouncy Gotta Wait to the slick, sexy rhythms of Flush, Childcare‘s sound is mature, goddamn cool, and a breath of fresh air in an over-saturated music scene. We also can’t get enough of their cover of Blondie’s Hanging On The Telephone; a complete game changer for the track but an absolute blinder of a re-work.

We were lucky enough to catch Childcare at one of their secret shows last month and we can vouch that the tracks sound just as striking, if not more so in a live atmosphere. Ed Cares‘ suave and eccentric nature is the perfect front for the band’s style, delivering a performance that’s vibrant and full of life. We can do nothing but sing our praises for the newcomers and we can’t wait to see what happens next in the world of Childcare.
