Taking on a darker concept than its ancestor, Batushka’s 'Hospodi' is a polished, well-orchestrated record. However, while it has its glorious, exciting moments, and sees more experimentation than that heard in 'Litourgiya', it is far from the immersive masterpiece it followed.
With 'The Valley', Whitechapel have built upon their delving into melodic territories in 'Mark of the Blade', and refined it to bring a more natural, determined sound. An emotional, self-exploratory record which is their most ambitious yet, and amongst their strongest.
