Travelling to the HMV Forum in the midst of a freak thunder storm, it seems the fates are set against us seeing opening act, Moneen. Instead we arrive in time to catch Kevin Devine’s support set. Despite being accompanied by a full band for all but the opening song and working up gradually to an almost climactic version of ‘Blood brothers’’, it’s still only an almost. He just doesn’t manage to completely fill this venue with his sound and there always seems to be something missing.
