LIVE REVIEW: Steel Panther, Brixton Academy, 31/03/12
The 80’s was an amazing era for music. An era notorious for the alcohol and drugs (and women) consumed by ‘Hair Metal’ bands. An era that spawned an image that many people still replicate today, and a sound that has been copied more times than we can physically count. But where Steel Panther stand out from this copycat crowd, is that they are a parody – and that’s what makes them so fun.
LIVE: Bowling For Soup (Acoustic), Koko, 01/04/12
Bowling For Soup have always been a band that we enjoy watching live. They’re fun, very fun. But, just how easily would this fun translate in an acoustic environment?
LIVE: InMe, o2 Academy Islington, 31/3/12
Oozing rock and roll attitude, LostAlone’s impressive live show is a hard act to follow for headliners InMe, despite their lengthy career in the business.
LIVE REVIEW: Korn, O2 Brixton Academy, 25/03/12
Over the past few years we have seen Korn more than a few times. There have been very good performances, and there have been very average performances. With the release of their new dub-step driven album, we enter Brixton Academy hoping that this reboot in sound will inspire an equally refreshing performance.
LIVE REVIEW: Takedown Festival, Southampton University, 22/03/12
The return of the south’s newest alternative music festival is a refreshing showcase of homegrown talent.
LIVE REVIEW: The Cuban Brothers, Jazz Cafe, 16/3/12
Edinburgh’s break dancing, body popping, all round party starting entertainment is in the heart of Camden to show how a Friday night should go, not the standard drinking in a sick based smelling pub but to be inside the jazz venue and see the weird and the (rather orange) wonderful!
LIVE: Bane, Camden Underworld, 11/03/12
Hardcore veterans Bane return to UK shores for a special one-off half-dayer and make a strong case for their continued relevance in 2012.
LIVE: Zico Chain, Proud, 11/03/12
Before we get into this, Zico Chain are one of the most underrated bands ever! Since the very first time they blew our ears to smithereens in a sunny field at Download 2007, they have been one of our favourite bands, yet as amazing as they are – they haven’t got anywhere. This shows that [...]
LIVE: Kill Hannah, o2 Academy Islington, 10/3/12
We first saw Kill Hannah live at this very venue way back in 2007. In the space of 5 years, it just shows that they haven’t got very far, to be back here and hardly filling it. But now that singer Mat Devine is back from fulfilling his duties in the American broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, maybe they can work on building the band and take themselves to bigger venues.
LIVE: Swound!, Camden Barfly, 5/3/12
Swound! are a band who have been on our radar for some time, and recently caught our eye when they supported Electric Six and blew the headliners clean out of the water. Tonight, they top that performance. Swound! – made up of four Staszkiewicz brothers – are very much like the UK’s very own Weezer. ‘
