Life On The Road

MUSIC INTERVIEW: Life On The Road With…Godeater

Following the recent release of their hard-hitting debut album All Flesh Is Grass, Scottish death metallers Godeater prepare to hit the road for a tour with Harbinger and an appearance at Damnation Festival. We caught up with the band ahead of the shows to hear about their top touring tips and stories from the road.

Favourite thing about touring:

Playing shows, visiting new places and meeting new people.

Least favourite thing about touring:

Sometimes the drives are pretty tedious and, lets be honest, service station food is not the best after a while.

Five essentials for the road:

– Baby wipes
– Deodorant
– Sleeping bag
– Fresh strings/drumsticks
– A refillable water bottle for hydration.

Favourite way to the pass the time:

We like to get to a city really early and go exploring for food and coffee places. Any time prior to load in we just do tourist type stuff!

“The Most”

Memorable moment:

We recently played UK Tech-Fest for the second time. It was great to see so many people pack out the room for us and bring so much energy.

Hilarious moment:

There’s been a few onstage falls that strangely enough no one has actually noticed but we had the bruises to prove it. It’s going to happen when five guys are thrashing about a stage.

Embarrassing moment:

We are still relative newcomers so maybe ask us this next time and we might have some stories but we’ve been fairly lucky so far!

Outrageous moment:

Looking out to a packed room at this year’s UK Tech-Fest and seeing a bunch of guys on the ground pretending to be a rowing boats is up there!

Drunken moment:

We wish we could tell you some 80’s hair band level of debauchery but we don’t have any wild stories I’m afraid. Kudos to bands who can rage the night before and still kill it the next show.

Rewarding moment:

Any time someone leaves the comfort of their home or passes up another show to come and check us out is rewarding enough. The support we have had since the beginning has been humbling and we are grateful that everyone has been connecting with the new material from All Flesh Is Grass as well!
