FESTIVAL PREVIEW: Gunnersville Festival 2019 – You Me At Six, Jimmy Eat World & More

With festival season coming to a close, Gunnersville Festival promises to see the season out in style. The new tented concert series in London’s Gunnersbury Park this September will be playing host to some of the hottest names across the music industry including headlining acts Doves, The Specials and You Me At Six. 

Making its debut this year, Gunnersville is set to blur the lines between a concert and a festival, merging the two to create a live music experience like no other. All the artists on the bill will perform under one giant big top tent to go alongside a selection of street food stalls and craft beer vendors thrown into the festival mix. Gunnersville guarantees to be an innovative three-day concert series never seen before.

MILK TEETH

Milk Teeth 2019 - Gunnersville

Exploding onto the scene in 2013, Gloucestershire gathering MILK TEETH have taken the UK music industry by storm with their punk rock meets grunge tinged sound. Following on from their early triumphs with debut EP Smiling Politely which catapulted this three-piece into signing a career-making record deal with Hopeless Records. MILK TEETH, currently compromised of bassist/vocalist Becky Blomfield, guitarist Em Foster and drummer Oli Holbrook have honed in on their raucous musicality which has seen the band soar to success off the back of first full-length album Vile Child, it seems MILK TEETH are moving from strength to strength. Now on the roster of the prestigious Roadrunner Records, material taken from the trios latest EP’s Be Nice and Go Away is sure to surface on MILK TEETH’s setlist for their Gunnersville debut.

Bringing the continuation of the bands The Great Depression era to Gunnersville, Brighton based five-piece As It Is earnest melodic sound and newly standout style are the core characteristics that define this musically confrontational collective. Making a notable sonic leap from the pop-punk debut album Never Happy, Ever After to recent emo meets pop-rock record The Great Depression, was a landmark release in the group’s seven-year history which sees a calling for the total disintegration and reimagining of how society perceives death, depression and anxiety. One of the most daring creative forces in the alternative scene, As It Is’ slot at Gunnersville Festival is looking to be one of their last planned performances to round off an epic year in music. Deaf Havana

Deaf Havana 2019 - Gunnersville

Beginning back in their UK hometown of Norfolk, alternative rock outfit Deaf Havana have established themselves as a band that boldly switches up their sound at any given release. Finding their feet throughout various local scene bands back in 2005, Deaf Havana built the solid foundations for a band with a constantly evolving style influenced by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Funeral For A Friend and even Gunnersville headliners You Me At Six with the band having toured with them previously. Having released several EP’s and albums including Rituals, now Deaf Havana hope to bring a flavour of their diverse musical palette to their performance at Gunnersville Festival.

Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World 2019 - Gunnersville

Bringing a famous 90’s emocore household name into the 21st century’s alternative rock scene, Jim Adkins, Rick Burch, Tom Linton and Zach Lind otherwise known as Jimmy Eat World are one of the few bands who have retained an unequivocal level of exuberance to be making new music 25 years down the line. From the four pieces, inaugural self-titled release to the band latest delivery Integrity Blues and not forgetting 2001’s smash single The Middle, this Arizona based band have constantly pushed boundaries from releasing nine albums to maintaining a relentless touring schedule for over two decades. Familiar faces to the UK festival circuit having performed multiple times at Download, Reading and Leeds and Slam Dunk over the years, Jimmy Eat World have now set their sights on taking Gunnersbury Park by storm on Sunday.

You Me At Six

Heading up the headlining spot are rock quintet You Me At Six, eclectically mixing melodic pop and assertive alternative rock Josh Franceschi, Chris Miller, Dan Flint, Matt Barnes and Max Helyer have seen their success skyrocket ever since initially exploding onto the industry’s radar some 15 years ago with first full length Take Off Your Colours. Celebrating chart-topping records thereafter, You Me At Six have seen following albums Cavalier Youth and Night People propel to the top three positions across UK album charts with recent release VI making it within the top 10. Currently hot off the heels of the band’s main stage performance at this years Reading Festival, You Me At Six are sending off the year in style at Gunnersville Festival performing all their hit singles from Save It For The Bedroom to Underdog and Straight To My Head to What’s It Like in chronological order.
