Last night Dalston was treated to a very special, one-off event as superstar DJ Fatboy Slim took to the decks at Oxfam to celebrate the launch of Oxjam Music Festival 2016.

Now in its tenth year the festival is run by volunteers, host to hundreds of gigs of every size and genre imaginable across the UK throughout the month of October, with the main aim of raising money for Oxfam’s poverty fighting projects.

Oxfam Dalston was transformed into a music venue for one night only, with performances from London’s Boxed In and Liverpool’s Stealing Sheep before the big finale from Fatboy Slim, who returned to the UK from his Ibiza residency especially for the event. Not only that, but the entertainment between acts was provided by BBC 6’s Shaun Keavney and TV presenter Miquita Oliver, as well as The Guardian’s Kate Hutchinson who showed off her DJ’ing skills.

Oxfam is a global movement for change working in 90 countries to build a future free from the injustice of poverty. The charity works directly with communities and seeks to influence the powerful to ensure poor people can improve their lives and livelihood’s and have a say in decisions that affect them. In the past 5 years alone Oxfam has helped over 20 million people with humanitarian aid.

Oxjam Music Festival takes place nationwide between the 1st – 31st October. Keep up to date on events near you via the Oxfam website.
