DJ Joao Brasil is working with Rio Occupation London, which is the occupation of London by 30 ground breaking Rio De Janeiro artists, in a multi-cultural festival. There will be home visit performances as well as lessons in street crime and a band made of chefs.
Brasil is known as a DJ, producer and musician, and will be producing five new tracks with London based DJ’s to bring in his unique blend of old and new Brazilian music; the best of Rio. The first listen of two tracks was available to fans on the 27th July, at the V&A, and one featured vocals from the Columbian born/London based ISA GT. The other three tracks will include an African House track and an electro piece.
The launch event saw artists introducing their respective talents, which included a study of two naked female performers through a key hole and a dance in patch darkness, with the artist covered in lights. The finale event will take place between the 1-3 August, at V22 Summer Club.
This is all part of the London 2012 Festival, which is a nationwide celebration of the very best of the UK, that goes on until the 9th September. Hosts of this invasion include the Southbank Centre, V&A Museum and the Albany Theatre, with plans for a return invasion in April 2013, that will see London artists invading Rio De Janeiro.
