FESTIVAL PREVIEW: Boardmasters

Boardmasters

Relentless Boardmasters Festival began as just an international surf competition, that would show off the best surfing talent from around the world, as years went by the possibility of turning it into something much bigger and better became a possibility.

Now, the festival runs across the best part of a week, with the most renowned competitors in surf, skate and BMX showcasing their skills, beach session gigs and a music festival on the side, you’re never short of anything to get involved with at Boardmasters.

Musically, Boardmasters offers a strong variety of acts to suit all music lovers; the main stage this year includes Maverick Sabre, Maximo Park and The Ting Tings whilst fiery haired Ed Sheeran and RnB genius Dizzee Rascal take the headline slots. Make your way down to the other end of the field and the Vans Stage offers an incredible line up this year, with Set Your Goals heading over all the way from California to grace our golden shores on the Saturday night and Pulled Apart By Horses headlining the Friday night. Also playing the Vans stage are Futures, Exit Ten and While She Sleeps amongst others. Over on the Energy Sessions stage you’ll find Young Guns and Don Broco throwing down their post hardcore, anthemic rock music upon us, however if that doesn’t settle your musically inclined taste buds than the likes of Zane Lowe, Utah Saints and Rudimental will provide you with your night time dance off.

The Beach Sessions are also making their return this year, taking place down on the sandy shores of Fistral beach, Xavier Rudd, Reel Big Fish and The Black Seeds are the headliners and we can only encourage to buy tickets, (these are extra to the weekend tickets at Watergate Bay) take a wander around the shopping village to get your hands on bargains from Vans, Quicksilver and many more surf/skate labels, check out the riders on the half pipe and enjoy a drink whilst getting a dose of amazing music.

All tickets are still on sale with weekend camping tickets costing an unbelievably cheap £89 (plus booking fee). For more information on tickets, camping and travel visit www.Boardmasters.co.uk and come join us for a surf!
