Where: West Bromwich
What: Electro new wave
About: If back in your teenage years you loved Aiden then you should definitely check out new band Obscure Pleasures whose front man not only physically resembles Wil Francis, with his slicked back black hair, but musically has the same depth and passion as the man himself. The band stand out from their peers through their choice to not have a drummer and instead pump the beats from a laptop.
Their sound is full of electro beats, rock-out guitar riffs and mesmerising vocals from Joshua White whose voice will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end – particularly during track Hate, where White’s vocal capacity is pushed to it’s maximum. Their dark and gloomy songs scream of the 80s reminiscent of such greats as The Cure and Joy Division.
Verdict: The band are starting to make a name for themselves through their seedy-titled tracks such as Private Peep Show. They’re certainly not going to fade into the background.
