SINGLE REVIEW: We Are The Ocean – Bleed

watologo

After the recent departure of We Are The Ocean’s lead vocalist Dan Brown, we weren’t exactly expecting new material straight away, but what do ya know?

Bleed got it’s first play on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show last week and has already received mixed reviews from fans, mainly due to the lack of Dan Brown. Fortunately We Are The Ocean haven’t strayed too far from their original sound, though Liam Cromby’s vocals are noticeably rougher, with a gritty edge, perhaps to help incorporate the old sound with the new; the drums are still heavy and the guitars are still prominent. Losing a member is always difficult, but Liam’s vocals fit the song perfectly and hopefully there will be no change in the atmosphere of their live performances.

The chorus for Bleed is a beefy, fist-pumping piece of rock music, which we have no doubt will stir up the crowds at shows and festivals this summer. Despite the line-up change, the WATO lads clearly still know how to write a good rock song and certainly still have an exciting future ahead of them, what with a slot on this years Warped Tour and a UK tour in September, it looks like We Are The Ocean are truly stepping up their game!
