This week, New York popstrel Lizzie Grant, aka Lana Del Rey, released a new video for the song “National Anthem”. It is the fifth official single from Del Rey’s best-selling debut studio album “Born To Die” following such hits as “Blue Jeans”, “Born To Die” and “Video Games”. Earlier this month, when playing LA’s infamous El Rey Theater, the singer debuted a new song “Body Electric“.
The video for the latest release features the 2011 BRIT award winner as Jacqueline Kennedy, former First Lady of the United States, and Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky as her husband, former US President John F. Kennedy. Speaking about the video earlier this month, Rocky commented it is “some cool trippy shit, some real 2015 shit. People are going to get it in three years, and that’s the whole purpose of it.”
The music video is not the first collaboration from this unlikely duo. The pair previously collaborated on a song called “Ridin”, which also debuted this week with a new moniker “My Bitch”. The track was believed to be featuring on the rapper’s debut album “Long Live A$AP”, scheduled for release at the end of the summer, but the rapped confirmed on his Twitter that the song is purely unofficial.
“National Anthem” is set to be released by Del Rey on the 8th July. The video in question can be seen below. After triumphant performances at the Isle of Wight festival and BBC Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend, UK fans can catch Del Rey again at Suffolk’s Latitude Festival on July 13.
