NEW NOISE: The Milk

The Milk

Who: The Milk

Where: Chelmsford

What: 60s style rock ‘n’ roll with some soul

About: This four-piece from Chelmsford are one of the hottest new bands. They have a unique sound that, otherwise, has only been found in one genre, instead of two completely opposing ones: rock ‘n’ roll and soul. Vocalist Ricky Nunn has a voice not completely different to the likes of Plan B, and with the backing of a rock band it sounds incredible.

Their 60s style music differentiates them from other bands out there, and they are filling a musical void we didn’t even know existed. They emerged late last year with Broke Up The Family, and the amazing rock ‘n’ roll feel to the song is reminiscent of some of the most talented acts of yesteryear. The passion in the music is very strong, and Nunn’s voice sounds incredible on the track. Their newest song, Every Time We Fight, has a much stronger soul element, which you don’t get with most bands.

The songs they’ve already released have had an amazing reception, and it’ll be interesting to see what the album will sound like. The Milk has a dance feel to them too, and it’ll be interesting to see how they run with their different influences.

Verdict: The Milk’s unique mix of soul and old school rock ‘n’ roll makes them stand out from the crowd. The two genres, together, complement each other so perfectly that it’ll draw fans from both worlds, bringing them together.
