So last Friday the bosses over at Redbull decided to open their stage at this year’s Camden Crawl for everyone and make it completely free! All you had to do was sign up to be able to enter the arena for some awesome free tuneage all weekend! The likes of Fearless Vampire Killers and Marmozets graced the stage on the Saturday and we managed to grab the lovely boys of Acoda just after their set. We sneaked into artist and crew catering and spoke to the boys about their EP, festivals and their new video! Check out our exclusive interview with them here below…
BTN: Hi guys, how are you doing?
Yeah we are sound thanks!
BTN: So you just played at the Camden Crawl, it was cold…
It was very cold, but we soon warmed up on stage though. We were choking when we came off… We made the mistake of wearing two jackets.
BTN: Why?
It was cold when we started and when we stopped it was roasting. It was like summer, in our jackets (laughs).
BTN: You could have done this stage stripping thing, it would have been funny..?
(Start singing a stripper music amongst themselves while laughing Yeah could have, but who wants to see that?
BTN: (Laughs) So I hear you have just shot a new video?
Yeah we shot a new music video with our friend Ian Collins and we have got a first draft through and it is all looking sick. We can’t wait to get it out and for people to see it! Hopefully it will mean that more people will hear the tune as well.
We are hoping to get it on such platforms as Scuzz and Kerrang TV…
Yes platforms…
BTN: So you are playing Slam Dunk, that’s exciting!
Yeah we are bussing for that! There are some sick bands playing who have influenced us. We have been Taking Back Sunday fans since some of us were 14. Then we have got Every Time I Die, Architects, Cancer Bats, While She Sleeps, Funeral For A Friend. We like how high up the bill they are! We are planning on smashing both of those shows.
BTN: Anything special planned?
We will be still rocking this new set that we have been playing on this tour. Loads of EP tunes on it and if you are any oldies, like anyone who had been following us for a while you will love it too. New tunes, lots of sweating, silly faces; that is what’s going down at Slam Dunk!
BTN: Awesome, so you have been on tour with Attention Thieves, I have heard on the grapevine that they are bad influences?
They are SO bad for you. Yeah they are very bad for your liver. We turn up and they are already on it before sound check! So then we kind of feel obliged… But you know that is just us being weak!
It has been a good one; today is the last day so we have done 9 shows in 8 days which has been sound. They are just getting better at every show. We are just buzzing about it!
BTN: I’ve heard you smell good today…
Yes we smell like cheddar and chive.
BTN: How do you seriously do it?
Erm, I think it is because we are all tramps at heart. To be fair we have been trying to stay clean, getting out the old baby wipe wash in the Asda toilets. Followed by food in the Asda cafe. We loved brushing our teeth in Asda… Classy.
BTN: (Laughs) So you are on tour again in June with Mind Set Threat. Why are you not coming to Devon? It annoys me, everything stops at Bristol!
(Andy Hurst decides to answer this question) Do you know why? It is that extra hour and a half drive, bring Devon closer to humanity and then we will play there!
BTN: (Laughs) That is so mean.
It is not because we have something against Devon, we love it there. We recorded the drums to our EP down in Devon at Peter Miles studio.
BTN: So you can still buy your EP?
Yes it is available on band camp, iTunes, Amazon, zoon and… Napster (laughs). Yeah anywhere you can think of really. Also one of our mugs after the gigs. It is also cheaper on band camp and you can listen to it first before you buy it. So if you can’t afford it give it a spin then when you have £3 quid…
BTN: Ok thanks guys, anything else you want to say?
Ermmm, before our tour with Mind Set Threat we are gunna be announcing something pretty cool. We can’t really talk about it right now but it rhymes with Sharmload..? (Laughs)
BTN: (Laughs) Thanks guys!
I have always wanted to say that…
As the band said you can catch their EP via their band camp here: CLICK HERE!
