The GameCity Prize, an annual award granted as part of the GameCity7 culture festival, will be decided by a number of big names from the entertainment industry, including Jo Whiley and Charlie Higson. The festival, which will run from October 20th to 27th, is an annual event that showcases the cultural impact that videogames are having on society.
These additions to the panel will choose a game that reflects a certain influence on society, and takes into consideration the overarching implications of a game, as opposed to just various features. Last year the award went to Minecraft, and was presented by Tom Watson MP.
Any game released between June 1st 2011 and June 1st 2012 is eligible for nomination, regardless of format or budget. To contribute a title for consideration to the longlist, visit http://prize.gamecity.org/
