Although this story is starting to gather momentum on the internet, we thought it’d be a shame for anyone to miss this epic BBC blooper.
Last week, the BBC’s One O’Clock News took a startling left turn, as the Thursday edition included a graphic lifted directly from the popular XBOX game, Halo. As news anchor Sophie Raworth talked about the UN, some unwitting researcher set the logo for the infamous UNSC (United Nations Space Command) as the backdrop, drawing rather confused reactions from the Halo community who spotted the mistake.
And so that the world could bask in this glorious oversight, Luke Nair grabbed a screenshot of this rather incongruous moment for the Beeb.

Quick to pick up on this, the programme was speedily removed from iPlayer, and the BBC issued the following apology:
“BBC News makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all images broadcast, however very occasionally mistakes do happen. Unfortunately an incorrect logo was used during a segment on last week’s News at One bulletin and we apologise to viewers for the mistake.”
This is as inoffensive as mistakes come, but chortlesome none the less. As the below video proves, it could have been a lot worse…
