Deuce’s departure from his previous band, Hollywood Undead, was never disguised as being a friendly parting of ways. Shit was said and rumours were spread. But they’re grown men and can put that all behind them and move on right? Urm…
It seems that Deuce wants to hold on to his Hollywood Undead connection with tightly clenched fists. He still wears the mask (as do his new band), he makes music which sounds just like the more rap orientated HU tracks and he makes more than a few un-subtle digs at his former band mates. We’d have liked to have seen Deuce take a slightly more original path with this debut outing, but who were we kidding? ‘America’ is the point at where the Hollywood Undead similarities hit their absolute peak, but it is also the strongest song on the entire album.
When we first had a spin of this album, admittedly we thought it was outrageously cringy and terrible. But with every listen, it made more and more sense. It’s not meant to be an album which changes your life, challenges your mind or makes you think about the meaning of life. It’s an all out party album. An album that we enjoyed a hell of a lot more under the influence of tremendous amounts of alcohol. Maybe it should come with an “Best enjoyed drunk” sticker on the case? So, viewed as an album that is based entirely on getting fucked up and partying, this album starts to click with us – even though the words ‘bitches’ and ‘hoes’ do clock up to an alarming figure. The presence of Jeffree Starr talking about how he wants to commit various sexual acts on random guys does make this album lose a whole load of listenability – maybe he should be renamed ‘Jeffree Too-Far’! We guess it’s not all down to Jeffree though. The lyrics “She wants to lick my body, I want to lick her body, so let’s all have a party, lick eachother, let’s get naughty” do absolutely nothing to quash our laughter and we are left shaking our heads and rolling our eyes. Oh dear.
No matter how you view this album, the songs are catchier than the wide array of STDs these ‘bitches’ and ‘hoes’ will be sharing around. Whether it be the Eminem-esque ‘Now You See My Life’ or Ronnie Radke (Falling In Reverse) providing impressive rap vocals on ‘Nobody Likes Me’ – you’re going to find something on here to enjoy. Maybe.

The album only has three party/sex-related songs: “Let’s Get It Crackin’ (ft. Jeffree Star)”, “I Came To Party (ft. Travie McCoy and Truth)”, and “Freaky Now (ft. Jeffree Star and Truth)”. The rest of the songs are about his life. Honestly, I don’t see this as a party album; and I think this review could have been more in-depth, like song by song, not just an overview. :)
Pretty decent review, I loved the album though, and I believe there were more than just party tracks as most of the album was about getting over betrayal and starting anew. good review though
