Wayter return with their ten track release ‘Feeding Time’, with their feet firmly on the ground, they set out to give us a new sound on a frankly tired genre.
‘Feeding Time’ is the follow up to 2008’s EP ‘Marco Polo’ and the four piece have come on leaps and bounds – finding their niche by blending the basic rules of an indie sound with heavy guitars and atmospheric vocals. It’d be easy to write the band off as one of many London bands trying to make it big without a leg to stand on, but despite being listed as somewhere between the pesky alternative and indie labels, the band have their own clear cut sound with tracks such as ‘Cheese Sandwich’, they already sound fairly established, leaving their mark on an over saturated genre.
Whilst it’s hard to pin down their sound exactly, they’re definitely a talented bunch, with a wide range of influences that certainly comes across in their music. For example, track ‘Atlantic: Pacific’ showcases a noisier approach when compared to ‘Parachute’, a melodic and haunting track. They could be commercially very successful, with a versatile sound that no doubt will appeal to many, but at the same time they could quite easily keep that underground sound no matter what they decide to release next.
We predict big things for the group, watch this space.
The London four piece are set to play three dates in London, Birmingham and Leicester in late April and are well worth checking out.
