ALBUM: Architects of Grace, Moments in Time

architectsofgracecdArchitects of Grace, a collaborative effort between Duncan Robert Illing and like-minded musicians, release their debut album ‘Moments in Time’.

‘Moments in Time’ had racked up an impressive set of producers including Dave M Allen (The Cure) and Phil English (Biffy Clyro) and whilst we’re sure the band know how lucky they are to be working with such legends, it’s their talent that shines through in every track.

A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into the debut release (Duncan Robert Illing had previously released a self-financed debut single in 2009 to much acclaim) and the result is a passionate, well through out and polished 11 track album.

A heavy 80’s influence is apparent throughout, but the band have managed to update it for a modern audience with a commercially viable twist, all the while managing to keep the stunning vocals and array of musical talent throughout, no mean feat. Tracks such as ‘Reflection’ could be well received in the charts, as could many of the songs, tracks, but the emphasis with the album is not the commercial value but the flair and creativity which has gone into every song. ‘Damaged’ would not feel out of place on a number of British 80’s releases but the band have somehow reinvented this distinct sound into something of their very own.

The hard work certainly has paid off – ‘Moments in Time’ is a strong debut, full of passion and individuality. It may have taken a while to get here, with plenty of trials and tribulations, but the band should be proud of such a fantastic first release.
