EP REVIEW: Brawlers – Two Minutes
Lovely Leeds lads Brawlers are still relatively new to the punk scene and yet here they are with their second E.P release of the year, Two Minutes. So it’s evident that the band are sure as hell hard workers, however does the effort match up to the output? As we are pounded by the title track Two Minutes it easily answers our first question with a swift hard yes. Two Minutes is, well, two minutes of a punk and indie inspired onslaught straight to the eardrums (although we could be picky and say it should be two minutes and two seconds ...

EP REVIEW: Homebound – Coming Of Age
Photo Credit: George Powell At the moment more than ever before, UK pop-punk bands are hitting the scene with their big belty choruses, reflective lyrics and riffy guitar lines. Farnham quintet Homebound are one of these, having burst onto the scene with their debut EP Coming Of Age there’s a chance this could be our favourite pop-punk debuts to date. Opening track Valour unleashes the pop-punk beast within Homebound, stuttering guitar lines with sharp riffs are accompanied by Charlie’s shouty, melodic and addictive vocals. Using this for an opening track was a brilliant idea as we’re given a taster of what’s to ...

LIVE REVIEW: Blitz Kids, Natives, Scholars, The Garage, London, 09/10/2014
[slideshow id=99] Scholars are a band that haven't yet been given the opportunity to really let themselves shine, but judging from their performance tonight they've really been giving it their all on this tour. Though sonically they're not the strongest bands we've ever seen or heard, the energy they put into their set was impressive, whether that'll be enough to give them their big break though, we don't know. New Forest pop-rockers Natives have certainly done the rounds this year, playing many a Festival over the summer and touring no-end, we were intrigued to see how they'd keep their show fresh and ...
EP REVIEW: Tigerpunch – Fight Of Your Life
Formed after dreams of becoming Pokemon masters failed and named after a Kung Fu Panda reference, Tigerpunch's debut EP, Fight Of Your Life promises little and duly delivers. Made up of frontman Rich Reynolds, bassist James Wolfwood and drummer Russell Latham, the Wolverhampton trio's debut EP starts fine enough. The jumpy My Pet, Hate is full of pop-rock riffs and is the most unique of the songs on show. Blonde starts with driving guitar and drums, but is ultimately let down by a flat chorus. In the final three tracks the band make it patently obvious who their influences are. Takedown ...
