LIVE REVIEW: Interpol, Slaves, The Forum, London, 17/02/2015
2014 was a very good year for New York post-punk quartet Interpol, they bounded back from their disappointing fourth album by releasing one of the albums of the year in El Pintor, which while perhaps a very "safe" record, was a real return to form. Tonight the band were rounding off their UK tour in support of the record by playing a special NME Awards show in North London. First up are Kent duo Slaves, who can best be described as ‘laddish garage punk’, comparable to Royal Blood and The Black Keys. The bands 30 minute set sees them alter between ...
EP REVIEW: Cable Street Collective – The Best of Times
London based six-piece Cable Street Collective’s debut EP, The Best of Times, is a joyful 20 minute romp of sunshine indie. Heavily influenced by African and Latin styles, this record has you dreaming of summer in a dreary February. In a world where popular music is either hyper-sexualised or bloody miserable and bands are not making music you can groove to, Cable Street Collective stand apart, creating music which is fun, happy and does not take itself too seriously. Formed last year, the band have funded the EP on Kickstarter and recorded it in between festival gigs and a tour of ...

From the ashes of Rise To Remain, writing partners Conor O’Keefe and Austin Dickinson have emerged almost phoenix-like, proving that starting again entirely anew can pay off tenfold. Alongside equally talented fellow ex-RTR-bandmate Will Homer and strong newcomers in Stefan Whiting ...
